Thank you for taking an interest in fresh, locally made beers.
We feel that brewing is an art, and take great pride in our beers. We do not spend a lot of time trying to come up with innovative advertising strategies (clearly), new, fancy logos, or crazy soundbites. We brew beer. Good beer. We hope you have a chance to try one (or two) at your favorite neighborhood bar. Maybe we'll even see you there.
All because Beer Helps. . .
Kelso of Brooklyn is the house brand of Greenpoint Beer Works, located in historic Clinton Hill, Brooklyn. The name "Kelso" is an amalgamation of the Brewmaster's name, Kelly Taylor, and that of his wife, Sonya Giacobbe. It was their goal to create flavorful, fresh, and easy drinking beers for the people of Brooklyn and greater New York City.
Greenpoint Beer Works, Inc. was founded in March 2003 to contract brew for the greater NYC area. Originally set to be located in the Greenpoint neighborhood of Brooklyn, the project hit a couple snags, and wound up, for the better, in the current 10,000 sq.ft. Clinton Hill space. It was easier to change the address of the licenses than it was to change the name, so "Greenpoint Beer Works" remained. Kelso leases space from Greenpoint Beer Works.
Originally a Bordens Dairy building, 529 Waverly has a "rich" manufacturing history in Brooklyn. We're currently researching to find out more of this building's history, and will add to this column when we find something the remotest bit interesting.

Hey, we're now on Facebook. Join the "Kelso of Brooklyn" Group.
We have added shirts and bumper stickers for sale on this website. See the "for sale" tab if interested.
We have also started a small batch specialty fermentation area using some old 7BBL stainless tanks we've had kicking around the brewery. One of these tanks was utilized to produce the Kelso Flemish Red (see details in "The Beers Of Kelso"). One is now used to produce our small batch Kelso Pilsner. By using these tanks, we can produce beer on a small scale and with ingredients we would not normally use in our larger 30BBL tanks (shown below), like wild yeast, fresh fruit, and certain strains of bacteria.
